Overview

I spent 3 nights here. Lobby, reception area, lift and hallways were all mostly accessible. Doors were heavy, and in some places, took perfect manouvering to manage. A less mobile person could not manage here by themselves. It took arm strength and good grip because these are fire doors. Room was accessible enough, but it was clear one side of the "queen" bed was the disabled person's and the other was the companion's/partners. I was fine because i had crutches with me to get around the other side of the bed. Both sides of the bed had adjustable swivel lights, mains sockets and USB ports, and a small table. One side had the phone and remote and just enough room for a cup. The side I used was the other side, and at same size, it was just big enough for my water bottle, medication and phone. The door was easy to lock, the aircon was easy to use, and for the first time ever in my life, I was able to see out of a peep hole! The bathroom was brilliant. Maybe people in bigger chairs would struggle but I did fine. There was just one small criticism for it - there was a little lower wheelchair accessible sink I could wash in, but nowhere to put soap/flannel or towel. The main sink with the soap and counter for soap/flannel was not very accessible from chair height. The soap was too far near the mirror/too high to use the soap, and it's sort of all clamped to the wall with a vice, to stop theft. You did get all you needed though, if you were able enough. Soap and hand lotion dispensers. The shower had shampoo, conditioner and the same body/hand wash that was by the sink in dispensers. There was plenty of towels, two pillows per person, and the staff made it clear that anymore you need, all you needed to do was ask. One night I went downstairs to get myself another cup and teabag, coffee sachet, from the lower shelves of the grab and go area, and staff I met on the way back up were lovingly mortified that I did this myself instead of ringing down to the desk to have someone bring it up for me. So, for those who can't do these things, ringing down is definitely the option! If I was disappointed with one thing in the room itself, it was that I - perhaps incorrectly - was expecting a table or a desk of some sort, to have a cup of tea/coffee on or eat from, or do a bit of work from, and the room I stayed in did not have a table. There was a high narrow counter - awkward to use from a chair height - to make a cup of tea on, and there lived the the kettle, which was nice and light thank god and I only filled it with 2 cups of water at a time reducing the risk of dropping water and burning myself - and there was the suitcase counter that made somewhat decent surfaces for things; The bar/dining area doubled up as a working area, but pictures for the rooms on the websites do show other rooms have tables. I do understand the queen bed takes up a lot of room but also as a disabled person, whilst other people might just use the bed, I personally did not have that choice due to my own mobility needs. If you need a table, you are best ringing up and asking if one is in the room you'll be booking. Or, like me, concede yourself to the bar area. And hope there isn't a football match on when you're working.... The bar/dining area did have some dedicated work spaces, but these were high counters with stools, and in the booths. The more accessible lower tables were not near plug sockets. However I did manage to get some coursework done regardless of this. The free WIFI is excellent, and all of the tea and coffe you could want, even peppermint tea and alternative sugars. Breakfast was included on the price I paid, I think it's included with all bookings but don't quote me on that. Again, when help from staff was required, they were on the ball. I unfortunately just don't eat big cooked breakfasts. I managed some fruit and a cup of coffee or tea but the fry up items just didn't appeal to me at that time of the morning, but it smelt amazing. The hash browns looked very nice. I was a bit sad I didn't spot the small continental breakfast muffins you find in competitor's breakfasts but, you can't have it all. Before booking, double check allergy option availability because there seemed to be a lack of vegan milk 2 of the days I stayed. On arrival, they went over all of the accessibility needs I might have. They went through what to do if there was a fire and they have options/solutions for those who are deaf/Deaf and hard of hearing. There was one small moment of confusion maybe other seasoned hotel stayers would have understood but I didn't get housekeeping whilst I was there, despite the last full day I was there leaving the sign asking for house keeping on the door. So, maybe clarify what it is they want if you need housekeeping to ensure you get it, if like me, you don't stay in hotels often enough to know this. This stay was because of an emergency situation at home, and I have to say, it was a lovely time here. I was sad to leave. On day of check out, I asked the reception if someone could come help me with my suitcase and doors, and they did. The staff were just really all lovely and I really think if you approach them with any problem, they'd work with you to find a solution. Within reason. They are still human, after all.

Breakfast. Black coffee and a banana The accessible room. Queen bed, telly on the wall, a high back egg-shaped sort of armchair just out of view on the left. That's my own two pillows you can see in the photo up against the 2 standard hotel pillows, with a second set further along nearer the window just out of view.
