Overview

We had a fabulous spacious room but the restaurant is up stairs on the first floor with no accessibility for anyone who has mobility issues. Huge disappointment in this day and age.

Transport & Parking

Parking is good and easy although only 5 disabled spaces. Parking is close to the entrance on a tarmac surface.

Access

There is step free access to the hotel but the doors are locked due to rowdy behaviour in the lounge from non residents , so you have to ring a bell and wait. This can be quite a wait if the reception staff are away or busy. There is a ramp to the lifts. There are 2 lifts but they are quite small. The doors on each floor to the lift lobby are automatic but the electronics for stopping the doors are trip hazards in the middle of the floor. The restaurant is on the first floor , up 2 flights of about 12 stairs each flight. There is no lift and no other way of using the restaurant other than climbing the stairs. The hotel does offer to bring your food down to the lounger but the tables and chairs are suitable for a lounge not necessarily dining.

Staff

The staff were pleasant if a little uninterested . There was no housekeeping staff for the entire 4 day Christmas period. There was no food available at all except breakfast and they were obviously running on a skeleton staff.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Whilst some staff wore masks and there was a lot of signage about a good amount of staff did not wear masks and neither did some of the guests we saw. It did not make us feel covid secure. Additionally , although they would bring your breakfast down to you , it could be served by a non mask wearing member of staff . All in all, despite an e celebrate room and it being very quiet the whole lack of accessibility to the restaurant means we are unlikely to use it again no matter how convenient the location.
