Overview
A gorgeous, modern and spacious hotel, with full access available for anyone with restricted mobility. Just be prepared to conquer the hills around this hotel!!
Transport & Parking
As there is very little city centre parking near this hotel, we decided to go by foot (and wheel!) Although a lovely walk through Edinburgh's city centre and may people offered us help and support, the steep hills proved extremely difficult for us to manage!
Access
This hotel had excellent disabled access, and very helpful and proactive staff who showed us where we needed to go, rather than just telling us. We were guided to the lift, and there were accessible bathrooms on the ground and first floor. We went to the hotel to see a performance of 'Home' as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. What was really impressive was that, as we queued up to get into the theatre space a fringe member of staff immediately came up to me and guided me to the (very elegant) platform lift so that I could get to the theatre space without fuss or hassle, and enter the space at the same time as everyone else. I was then shown a clear space for a wheelchair user (the only one I could see in the theatre space). Unfortunately, prior to the show starting, there were no accessibility announcements, and there were flashing lights during the show that we weren't warned about.
Toilets
Gorgeous accessible bathrooms that do not compromise form for function. And they had mirrors too (a rarity in accessible bathrooms!)
Staff
Staff were truly impressive and dealt with my additional requirements with kindness, knowledge and discretion.
