Overview
Amazing food, value for money.Visited for lunch, unfortunately had to sit in the wind and the rain whilst someone came to open the wheelchair accessible entrance, even though we had booked our table and they were aware a wheelchair user was coming
Transport & Parking
We travelled by car, it’s out in the country, the public bus service passes the road end, but it’s a good half mile uphill up a drive to access. No dedicated accessible parking spaces, we had to park over 2 spaces to leave room for chair
Access
Several steps to main entrance, wheelchair access is along the side of the building and up a ramp. This door is a fire door and has to be opened from inside. My friend had to leave me in the wind & rain and go back around the building to main entrance to gain access. The surface outside to the ramp looks as though it would be quite slippy underfoot when wet. There is a lift to upper floors. Plenty of seating for a rest, but quite a long corridor from accessible entrance to public area
Toilets
Hotel has had a refurbishment, so pleased to see they now have an accessible loo in public areas, before you had to get a member of staff to take you through the reception room to an accessible loo. Loo was roomy with plenty of grab rails etc.
Staff
Staff were friendly and helpful. They were most apologetic about my wait in the rain. Always smiling
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Social distancing guidelines in place. Plenty of sanitising stations, tables were well distanced even though it was really busy, screens, contactless payments etc.Would recommend booking ahead , as they often have special offers on meals. Also to check what current COVID restrictions are with the hotel. Worth the visit and the wait in the rain, as food was outstanding !
