Overview
My carer and myself went to visit the town of Hebden Bridge yesterday....26th February 2019.....I worked there 20 years ago and hadn`t been back since. I was fully able bodied back then and didnt give much thought to the wheelchair accessiblity. I was pleasantly surprised to find there were improvements to pavements and pedestrianised areas. Although it is a very old town, quite a lot of the shops had flat and wide entrances for wheelchairs.
Transport & Parking
There are several parking places for disabled. We parked in a central place, but had to wait for a space. All disabled spots were full.
Access
Lots of dropped kerbs and flat area, but cobbles in some places.
Toilets
I used the disabled toilet in Valley Road. It was open, no key needed. Fairly clean.
Staff
Shop keepers were helpful
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The Tourist Information is next to the canal....boats trips not accessible as far as I know, but worth checking. The Tourist Information Centre is very accessible, spacious with helpful staff. I would visit again. and recommend it to other wheelchair users.
