Overview

Hawkhead Railway Station is a single-line, unstaffed station that serves the Seedhill area of Paisley. The station is the last stop before the end of the line at Paisley Canal Railway Station, and the first stop from it, if you’re going the other way.

Transport & Parking

3.5

There is local parking at the station with no charge to park at the time of this review. This is also confirmed on the Scotrail website, but please check this before you visit. The car park has 40 spaces, with two designated accessible spaces that aren’t any wider than the standard spaces, though they are both at the end of a row, closer to the access ramp leading to the platform. Nearby Hawkhead Road has a bus stop on either side of the road, where the number 10 McGill’s bus service stops. The quickest way to access the station from the bus stop is via the metal gate at the top of the road, however, there are 11 steps down to the station. The alternative route is much longer, heading down the hill and through the car park will bring you to the station.

Access

0

There is ramp access to the station from the car park on a gradual incline, leading up to the left before bending to the right and ending at the platform. There's a handrail on the left at the lower section and on the right at the upper section. The station is unstaffed, so there is no folding ramp to access the train. Scotrail suggests contacting their accessibility line, at least two hours before your journey, should you need this service. There is an induction loop,

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Installing actual accessible bays with crosshatching on either side would be helpful. As it is, there are two parking spaces with a yellow wheelchair symbol painted in the middle, in what feels like a half-hearted attempt to be inclusive.
