Overview
The location is very accessible as it is situated on a main road and only 5 minutes from the town of Bakewell. The site itself is a renovated train station that is attached to the popular Monsal Trail a re-established set of tunnels and open viaducts that boast excellent views.
Transport & Parking
There are 2 specific free disabled parking allocations at the front of the cafe and a lot of flat surface parking. There is also more disabled parking which is not free on site.
Access
There are various doorways into the large cafe all providing a flat surface or ramp access. The doors are wide enough to facilitate a wheelchair user however are they are manual not automatic, therefore the user would be dependent on a second person. Once inside the cafe seating is easily altered to seat a wheelchair and there are numerous table sizes/heights to suit users needs.
Toilets
There is only one fully fitted disabled toilet within the cafe this is fitted with handrails, a low sink and a low pull light switch. A disadvantage to the facility is that it is situated after a partitioning wall and a drinks fridge which reduces the accessibility to the toilet. Upon reaching the toilet door there is a large low door handle on both sides and an easy low lock.
Staff
Staff are more than welcoming and will help with every need. The staff are willing to move furniture around to ease access. They are polite and smiley who would be happy to help you.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
To create the best experience at this busy cafe, I would advise somebody who would like to visit, to book in advance stating that you need access with a wheelchair. This will ensure that there is extra space included in the booking and will increase your experience satisfaction.
