Overview

I go for regular treatments in the Cardiology department. There is usually a disabled parking space free as I get there before 8.30am, by the time I come out there is usually someone waiting for a parking space. You leave your blue badge time clock in the car and take your blue badge photo id part wiht you into the hospital and show it at the reception desk as you are leaving, give them your parking ticket and they endorse it for free parking. Unless you get there very early there can be a queue to get into the hospital car park from both directions. Generally staff are more friendly and helpful than at Leeds LGI or St James's hospitals I've found. The main downside - there is a disabled toilet on the ground floor at the back of the main reception hall, just before you walk up the corridor to the different departments. The door on this toilet opens outwards straight into the main corridor which can be tricky. I find it easy to go in with my wheelchair but very difficult to get out. The door isn't easy to lock as it swings inwards and outwards so you have to find the midpoint where it is lined up in the doorframe to lock the door. I've struggled with it. There is an accessible toilet in the Cardiology department that is much easier to use and is much nicer than the one in the ground floor reception hall. But you can only use that if you are already in the Cardiology department. Only other minus - if you're going to the 'Women's Unit' it isn't signposted at all no matter what reception tells you. You have to know the name of the ward to be able to find it. It's very cramped in there.

Cardiology department staff are all fantastic. Reception staff are good. Women - avoid out patient hysteroscopy if you have any reason to think it may be problematic for you, Gynae department not so great at all.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

They have a table as you go in with hand sanitiser and masks and still have a sign outside asking for precautions but this is not enforced everywhere,
