Overview
We booked this hotel for two nights when we were attending an event at the nearby Haynes Motor Museum. We needed something wheelchair accessible, with grab rails by the toilet, and were so impressed when we looked at the disabled facilities on their website: https://thegrange.co.uk/access-statement/ I don't think I have ever seen a hotel website so good for disabled patrons. Very comfortable ground floor room, with large double bed (I think it can be made into two singles). Bed side lights turned on/off at a touch - no fiddly switches necessary. Maps available for anyone wanting to do walks (long and short) in the area - my able-bodied husband took advantage of this. Lovely garden around the hotel and excellent restaurant. We had breakfast and two dinners there. As they make all the dishes from scratch, they are able to offer dairy/gluten free, vegetarian and vegan alternatives to a lot of the dishes - just ask. My husband can not eat solids, and staff were very helpful in providing hot milk for his nutritional milkshakes. We hadn't been to this part of the country before, and were very impressed as to how beautiful and full of interesting places it is. We will return to the area, and definitely plan on staying at The Grange again.
Transport & Parking
We drove. Blue badge parking spots available near reception, as well as non-pebbled drop-off area right outside entrance. Not sure that there is any public transport nearby.
Access
We arrived earlier than we'd said, and there was a small step to get into reception (about 1-2 inches), but possible with a wheelchair and pusher. When we left reception 5 minutes later a small ramp had been placed over it - and remained in place throughout our stay. That made access to the restaurant much easier. Reception, restaurant and our room all on ground floor.
Toilets
Accessible toilet in public area with grab rails - clean, spacious. We had some difficulties with the grab rails by the toilet in our bedroom, and stupidly didn't say anything until check-out. It turned out that they are temporary, and had been installed wrong way round - ie shortest on the wall and longest free-standing. It could have been easily fixed and saved us a lot of trouble - if only we'd said something. We used the toilet in the public area during the day, which was excellent.
Staff
All very, very helpful and friendly - you only had to ask.
