Overview

Govinda's is a vegetarian / vegan restaurant near Tottenham Court Road station. For somewhere in central London, the prices are good. The food also is good. I chose from the set menus - which means a thali. When next I visit I intend to explore the a la carte options so as to end up with precisely what I fancy. The venue is step free and I had no problem with accessing this restaurant. Unfortunately, however, the entrance door may not be wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs, so it would be best to E-mail beforehand: govindas@iskcon.london I needed to sit where I could have my rollator nearby and the staff were helpful when it came both to seating and to carrying my tray. This is the sort of place that suits me, as it isn't 'posh,' it's lively but not extremely noisy, and the staff and fellow diners are friendly.

Transport & Parking

I used London buses, getting there from Park Lane (where my coach dropped me), crossing by the Animals in War Monument, and catching the 309 along Oxford Street. Afterwards I wanted to take a 24 or 29 to Trafalgar Square - but Transport for London stop the buses at the drop of a hat and the 24 and 29 were terminating on Tottenham Court Road. I was obliged to detour back along Oxford Street to Marble Arch / top of Park lane, from where I was able to catch the number 6.

Access

The restaurant is on a level. I was able to move around inside with little trouble, although if the place is busy it does depend on the goodwill of other diners somewhat. I do not know if wheelchair users would manage.

I received a warm welcome, followed by information on the food. I also got a warm 'Good-bye' at the end, to include namaste. I received a positive response to my request to be suitably seated and my food was taken to the table for me.
