Overview
A truly delightful experience of a 5 star 4 course meal while watching the horse racing. Highly recommended for disabled or elderly people. This is the best way for any disabled or elderly people to enjoy horse racing, as you are able to just sit at the table they select for you, have staff bring you drinks, and a fantastic four course meal will be brought to you, all while you sit back and watch the race, either at your table on TV screens, or by joining the other race goers on the balcony, and all will make way for you and your wheelchair to be right up close to the glass safety balcony. There’s no need at all to gamble, (we certainly never gamble at all) but we do enjoy the excitement of the race itself, and the hospitality meals are always a delight, it’s an experience we regularly do nowadays, as we can both cope, because you are spoilt from the moment you get out of your car by willing helpful course staff, who treat you with the respect you deserve. It’s one of the best days we disabled or elderly can really enjoy. Always book the hospitality deal if you can afford it, everything is then included, tickets, parking, meals, and we mean good meals. Alright, you have to buy your own drinks, but of course you don’t even have to do that, it’s just a very pleasant day out for us disabled people to throughally enjoy. We recommend you giving it a go. BUT CAN WE SUGGEST THIS. CHOOSE A QUIET RACE DAY, forget the main and very busy main race day events, there’s plants of days like these, where the cost is considerably less, but the experience is just as good, we love it. On the hospitality deal, you get fantastic views of the race course and the actual race itself, you are so well looked after, and it’s worth every penny. We have reviewed a number of race courses for you, such as GOODWOOD, CHELTENHAM, BATH, WARWICK, WORCESTER, KEMPTON PARK, other courses include Epsom, for the Derby, Fontwell Park, and Sandown, and we have plans ready for various courses during 2025, which we hope will give you a chance to try doing something different, a boost for the difficult life many have to endure nowadays. PLEASE READ THESE REVIEWS ON THE EUANS GUIDE, UNDER OUR TITLE OF “DISABLED TRAVELLER.” there’s lots of photos, details of the day itself, and our advice as needed. DO ENJOY these pleasant days out.
Transport & Parking
Book the hospitality offer for race day at the Charlton Hunt, in the Richmond stand, and this will allow you entrance into the Richmond stand, and the short walk to the restaurant overlooking the race course itself. Disabled parking is right up close to the main entrance, on grass, but ideal for disabled and their carer. (Photos 1, 2, 3 )
Access
It’s a lovely way to the Richmond stand, although it’s a bit of an uphill push to start with, but it’s on tarmac and hard padded mats, (if you take the short cut) as on (photo 6) There is a lift up to the second floor of the Charlton Hunt, very very slow lift though, and this takes you directly into the restaurant. Depending on where they seat you, ( we ask when booking for a window seat) and they will do their best for you. However, the whole restaurant is on the level, and if you want to actually watch the race then you have to get out onto the Verander anyway, otherwise you can watch the race on the screen in the restaurant, without leaving your seat or wheelchair. You can hear what’s going on via the TV screen.
Toilets
There are toilets of course, but we did not use them.
Staff
Excellent, very helpful, and your team member will provide all the help you need, with support from newly trained young people, who are well selected, and very helpful.
