Overview
We had a wonderful day out on the steam railway, travelling the whole length of the line and visiting Cheltenham for lunch. They have really put some thought and effort into making the experience accessible and the staff, who are all volunteers, made our day out very enjoyable.
Transport & Parking
We arrived by motorhome and parked at Toddington Station. Parking there is free and there is blue badge parking right near the platform entrance. You can park at Broadway but it costs. There was a car park at Cheltenham, which I think is free but has a gravel surface.
Access
Crossing the railway to get to the other platform was easy. A member of staff will take you to a level crossing and help you cross safely. The platforms are all well surfaced. Access onto the train was easier than I expected. They have several coaches with double doors and staff bring a ramp and help you to get on safely. Once on the train, there is a large area for wheelchairs and you can sit at a table with your family.
Toilets
There are no accessible toilets on the trains but there are toilets at most stations. I used the toilets at Toddington and Cheltenham and they were clean and well equipped.
Staff
The staff couldn't have been more helpful! They really seemed to want to make our day out feel special. I'm always a bit nervous of ramps and assistance but they let me decide what help I needed and were very respectful.
