Overview

The guest house if run by Quakers, but is used by everyone, those looking for a beautifully serene holiday or short break, walkers doing the Coast to Coast walk, families, and disabled people. There are four bedrooms which can accommodate disabled guests, two in particular have been specially designed and built. Lovely atmosphere, excellent for friendliness, super food and THE most delicious homemade cakes! The main house has two twin bedrooms (can be used by solo traveller at no extra cost) with really accessible wetrooms, plenty of room in bedrooms. step free access to lounge. dining room etc.

Large car park, although no actual designated places, staff will ensure that there is a space near to the entrance.

Access

From the car park to the main house or the annex it is step free and tarmac. Although doors into guest house is not automatic. the routes to the reception, lounge, dining room and ground floor bedrooms are all step free and can be done by visitors in manual or electric wheelchairs. There is a disabled toilet on the ground floor. It has no lift, so no access to upstairs bedrooms.

The accessible loo is situated on a wide corridor on the ground floor very near to all amenities.

Staff

All the staff are helpful. They will come out to the car and help with any luggage or disability equipment. Give a choice of where you want to be seated at meals - moving chairs with no fuss. Ask and you will probably get, if it is possible!

Anything else you wish to tell us?

I would definitely recommend this venue if you love beautiful surroundings, quiet and caring guest house, wheelchair user - even an independent traveller. Be prepared to share your table at meals - part of the charm of Glenthorne!! Be prepared for no TVs in bedrooms - part of the quiet, relaxing atmosphere of Glenthorne!! Be prepared for very friendly staff and good conversations in the lounge. Not to be missed!
