Overview

Stayed for wedding weekend. Absolutely stunning location, venue and staff so helpful and welcoming .But have to be honest, it is difficult for wheelchair users in particular.

Transport & Parking

Very rural, no public transport. Car park on site with helpful disabled spaces. But car park rough and stony, hilly and uneven surfaces. Not wide enough for a bariatric wheelchair to get in and out of hotel or steadings.

Access

Signage was fine. Loads of appropriately placed parking spaces. All hotel rooms are on first floor and have no lift. Disabled access room in steading building, parking at entrance ,but a good wheelchair push up and down to it on gravel from main hotel. Ramp was difficult to locate in dark and covered in leaves but it is autumn in Scotland! Doorway in hotel and steadings not wide enough for bariatric wheelchair to enter had to be folded down and user walked in which might not be possible for some. Room was lovely with twin beds and huge walk in shower. Noted that the beds were quite high.

Toilets

It was, like the whole place, clean and tidy, but some tight turns to get in I guess in a regular wheelchair. Bariatric chair as mentioned could not even get into hotel without folding down. I am the visually impaired guest and had no problems once my sighted guide orientated me.

Staff

The staff were lovely. We arranged our own wheelchair pushers but I'm sure staff would help if asked. But not forthcoming.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

This is a just beautiful place. We fully appreciate the challenges of adapting historic premises and would not like to sound too critical, but have to be honest about the limitations. If you are attending a wedding in the Kirk, again a rough stony path. I would definitely recommend checking the venue out, discussing with staff when booking. A magical place and I guess nothing is impossible as we discovered X
