Overview

A family run business selling home made ice cream, cream teas, pies, jams, sweets, beer, etc to take away. Their speciality is ice cream topped with a dollop of clotted cream and take away cream teas. Opposite the shop, by the brook, are fixed picnic tables and benches which customers can use.

Transport & Parking

Gay's is a couple of minutes, level walk from Dawlish train station. The nearest station is Dawlish train station. There is step free access to platform 2, with trains heading towards Exeter/ London. Platform 1 with trains towards Paignton/ Torquay is accessible via a railway bridge with stairs only. However through Special Assistance they can arrange and accompany you to cross the railway line. I found the special assistance excellent at Dawlish Station. There are step free, local buses that stop close by.

Access

There is step free access to the shop from the street. There are ailses round the sides and in the middle but there is plenty of space to moved about. At one end there is a counter, where you pay and order your ice creams, which is at standing height. Opposite the shop, next to the brook, there are some fixed picnic tables and benches, with umberellas, which are available for their customers to use. This is accessible by a step free route. There is a slightly sloping paved path down to the seating area. Where the seats are there are chippings on the floor.

Toilets

I don't think they have a toilet. There is a public, radar key, accessible toilet 2 minutes’ walk away.

Staff

Staff are helpful and friendly.

Highly recommend the cream teas and ice creams. Their clotted cream is amazing. Gay's also do mail order deliveries.
