Overview

This is an award winning garden centre situated close to Caernarfon, Gwynedd. The single level layout makes for ease of accessibility. Within the garden centre there is a small farm shop selling locally sourced products. On top of this there is also a brilliant café which serves a variety of hot and cold meals and beverages. It also serves afternoon tea.

Transport & Parking

There were 5 designated disabled parking bays all within a few metres from the entrance. The parent and child bays were situated next to these. The carpark was flat and tarmac for convenience.

Access

The carpark was level and there were no steps into or throughout the building. The entrance door and those leading to the outside area were automatic. In the entrance area there were a selection of trolleys including those for wheelchair users. The garden centre also provided several wheelchairs which the public could borrow. These were situated here as well. The layout as a whole was easy to follow due to excellent signage that was clear and easy to read. The entrance door had bi-lingual signs that were of an appropriate height for wheelchair users to read.

Toilets

These were situated next to the café. The disabled toilet was accessible straight ahead in this area. The corridor leading to the toilets was spacious and toilets clean and tidy.

Staff

The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I observed one assist an individual with a walking aid in the café. They helped this individual by carrying their tray and helped them to dish up the hot meal of choice. The member of staff carried the tray to the table for this individual. It made me feel that I could approach any member of the team if I required assistance.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

All facilities were clean and the garden centre was tidy with no obstacles blocking access routes. I would definitely visit again and highly recommend it to others.
