Overview
This was my first trip out in my wheelchair! It was very daunting but I went with friends and I really enjoyed myself. Didn't have to call ahead, and had access to the rooftop via a lift and ramps after asking security (as the main entrance is via a lot of stairs!) The bar is on the rooftop of a refurbished carpark above the Peckham Plex cinema and the Peckham Levels. There is a lot of space to spread out and various art and sculptures to look at as well as views across London.
Transport & Parking
I rolled there as its only 15 minutes from my house. There were quite a few kerbs without kerb-drops and lots of uneven round when coming in through the back via the carpark near Morrisons. I believe their might be blue-badge parking there though if you did have a car. Closest bus stop is right around the corner.
Access
Online (http://boldtendencies.com/visit-contact/) their step-free access information is incredibly basic and not very helpful, but suggested it was possible. At the entrance, my friend asked the security for step free access and we had to go round the back and down some gentle ramps to an unmarked green door where staff let us in and into the lift. The lift was very large. The lift took us up to the level below the roof top so we then had to travel up a number of ramps to get to the top. The ramps were not-too steep, but they were quite small and tight. if you had a large wheelchair, roller or scooter you might struggle. I believe there were larger but more steeper ramps though if the pedestrian ramps weren't possible for you (since it is an ex-multi-storey carpark). One on the rooftop, the ground is level concrete for the most part. The bar heights were all high so if I had been the one buying the drinks I would have struggled to pay or reach for them. All of the seating is benches without backrests, but some would have allowed you to lean against walls at the same time. Was quite busy but spacious and we found a quiet spot on the other side of the rooftop, away from most people.
Toilets
There is an accessible toilet on the roof top but it is not signed and if coming to it from the lower level of the rooftop, the ramp is almost impossible without someone pushing hard. There was a railing to stop other people entering the accessible toilet which also prevented me from getting in without a friend to open it. Once along the flat wooden corridor you need to use a knife to open the toilet door, because they lock it like that from the outside. The stall itself was very large with space for a carer but only one grab rail. They had a read cord that was properly installed however. No sink in the stall so you have to roll back down the very steep ramp to wash your hands. All the toilets are compost toilets so it has a very DIY feel to it.
Staff
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Hand gel throughout. They didn't take our details however. I think this was because they forgot since we didn't come through the main entrance. there were a lot of people there though. It's spacious and outside, but still weird. The tables are not socially distanced and the bar has set queues but still busy.
