Overview
Attended a family wedding at this venue. Enjoyed a lovely happy day but there were some access issues.
Transport & Parking
There was disabled parking spaces in the car park quite near to the entrance doors. There was a Path right to the door.
Access
There were lots of paths with ramps so you could access all around the venue. It was a lovely day weather wise although slightly cold. The wedding was in 3 different areas which was fine but the ceremony was upstairs which I got to via a chair lift with my family having to carry my manual wheelchair up the stairs. Then we had to go downstairs & outside for photos. Then upstairs again for the meal & reception.
Toilets
The supposedly accessible toilet upstairs was awful. It really wasn’t accessible at all, I had to get two friends to come & help me to get into the toilet. It want very big & the floor was soaking wet with ?? I think it was water from the wash hand basin spilling onto the floor but not sure. It was reported to staff but was the same second time I had to go. There were handrails & an emergency cord. I didn’t get any photos as I was concentrating on keeping my dress out of the liquid on the floor & was exasperated by the whole experience.
Staff
The staff were very helpful apart from the toilet issue but that may have been cleaned up & had just reoccurred, I’m not sure. They were friendly and very informative about where to go & the most accessible route etc.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
We really had a lovely day at the wedding with everyone being happy, friendly & helpful. Venue was nice, clean & nicely decorated. Food was great, music was great. It was just the toilet upstairs that ruined it a little. Overall we had a great day though.
