This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Wheelchair, Powerchair
Overview
I love Forbes of Kingennie and have been to the restaurant and bar many times. The access is very good with a paved ramp down to the door, double doors so you’ll need help going in, then the reception is right there on entry and the staff and very friendly and helpful. There is a good amount of space to manoeuvre and the tables are a good height for the wheelchair. The deck is also fully accessible with just a little bump in the doorway.
Transport & Parking
There are two disabled parking spaces right by the door
Access
I usually attend the restaurant in my powerchair, there is a long ramp to get in and double doors. The room is not cluttered with tables so you can sit almost anywhere with a wheelchair without issues of people needing to move for you to get in and out your place. There are staff on hand to assist if needed, they are subtle in there assistance which is appreciated.
Toilets
The toilets are through a somewhat narrow door to a corridor where the accessible toilet is at the end, there is enough space to turn to get in but the toilet is quite small, just big enough for a powerchair without a turning circle. There are grab rails and the sink is at a good height, everything is reachable. The door is a sliding one as well which is great. The corridor has always been free of clutter and the toilet has always been clean and tidy.
Staff
The staff are always reallt nice, helpful and friendly, ready to assist but not overbearing. They are knowledgeable about allergies and accessibility
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I recently attended a wedding here. To get to the function suite you enter through the restaurant, there is then however two flights of stairs to get up. They have a stairlift which is great (although it is very slow!) the staff were knowledgeable about safety using this. I attended in my manual chair which my friend carried up the stairs for me. There are toilets upstairs however I didn’t use them so can’t comment on the accessibility. Unfortunately this means if you are a sole powerchair user it would not be possible to attend a function here. I really love the restaurant and bar here and would highly recommend it. They are also dog friendly!
