Overview

A small single room with side room set within St Thomas's Hospital. All on one level with an accessible toilet. Most items are in upright glass cabinets with audio via headphones available. Free entry to carers and £4.80 for disabled visitors (about half price). We felt the price of entry at full price was expensive - so glad we had a discount. Very expensive gift shop.

Transport & Parking

We walked from Waterloo Station. Leave through exit 3 and follow the signs a few blocks. No museum parking.

Access

Entry all on one level. Plenty of space to move around the one main room. The exhibits are in a strange layout and the lady at reception showed us a map of the general layout. Most artefacts are in upright glass cabinets with some above eye level from seated with small print descriptions. I found most hard to see from my chair. There were headphones with audio on the displays to hear about the items. Pictures and video about nursing to modern times with subtitles. Some items in draws and a small side room about Peter Pan. Worth going and few people there.

Toilets

Modern, very clean (well it would be terrible if it wasn't based on the theme of the museum!!). In fact the cleaning cupboard was in the accessible toilet but there was still a decent amount of room. The emergency cord is now the proud owner of a Euan's Cord Card as it took a lot of work to untie. Four toilet roles to choose from!

Staff

Friendly and showed us a map. I think we could have navigated the one room without the pre talk on how to see the exhibits.

Probably of little interest to young children but worth hearing about her life with some info on modern nursing.
