Overview
We walked from Millport (about 3 miles) to have lunch at this restaurant. I could see on Google Street View that they have ramps up from the street so hoped this would work out. It was actually really good, with easy access and we had a wonderful lunch.
Transport & Parking
We walked from Millport but if you prefer to drive, there is parking outside. I don't know if there is blue badge parking as it's just on rough ground overlooking the sea, but it wasn't busy even though it was a Saturday in June. Most people on Cumbrae either walk or cycle. I used my mountain trike, as I wasn't sure what the road surfaces would be like. Actually they weren't bad and I would probably have been fine with my normal chair.
Access
The tearooms are outdoors but with sheltered area in case in rains. The indoor part is restaurant only. We were quite happy with this but it was a stormy day and there were some complaints from people who wanted to have tearoom service indoors. Access into the building was easy, even though it is built into a hill. Inside, there was plenty of room to move around even in my trike. I was just thinking how good it was when a member of staff wheeled through from the tearoom to the kitchen. He is part of the family who own the place, so access is something they live and breathe daily. This explained a lot!
Toilets
Accessible toilet was fine... clean, good grab rails, everything in a sensible place, not huge but enough space.
Staff
The staff were awesome! So friendly and helpful. It is a family business and they were all lovely.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Just a personal recommendation: I had the half pot of mussels and it was one of the best meals we had all holiday. Strongly recommend it.
