Overview
I stayed here for a couple of nights to meet up with family. It's a good location, just off the A1 and accessibility is mostly good.
Transport & Parking
The site was easy to find and arrival was well organised and straightforward. This is a very busy site, so at busy times, they have staff on the gates, processing arrivals without the need to get out of your vehicle. This makes life so much easier. I had requested a pitch near a service point, and they had reserved me one. They gave me a map and directed me to my pitch via the motorhome service point. My only minor gripe is that they had reserved the pitch with a cone. I was lucky - my niece was there and moved it for me, but I would have struggled to move the cone by myself.
Access
Getting around the site is quite easy. It is largely flat and the roads are tarmac and good quality. The service points are accessible by wheelchair. There is a facilities block with an accessible toilet and shower room. Access to the country park is great! There are loads of good walks there, all on concrete paths which are plenty wide enough. I found it great for walking my assistance dog. There is also a large field where dogs are allowed off lead. That is grass but I managed fine with my Freewheel on. Negatives on the site: there is a step to get into reception and the shop. The dropped kerb there isn't good and the ramp from the drop is steep. It wasn't a major problem for me, as I didn't go in. There are various food vans in the evenings but they park up on the other side of the site (the side with grass pitches) and crossing the road was tricky because the road is higher than the path and there is no pavement for crossing. I had to perch on a steep slope with my dog attached, trying not to tip backwards, until we could cross.
Toilets
There are accessible toilets in the facilities blocks. I didn't use them as the site was full and I didn't want to carry all my stuff over for a shower and then have to sit outside queuing in direct sunshine. It was a hot weekend! So I just used my own. The service points were good and clean. The motorhome service point has a driveover drain and there are toilet emptying points around the site - all accessible. There are plenty of poo bins for doggy bags too.
Staff
The staff were lovely and helpful. They always smiled and waved whilst moving around the site. They were happy to answer questions and resolve any issues. I just felt that compared to other club sites, they were very busy - rushed off their feet - so I wouldn't have felt as able to ask for help if I needed it.
