Overview
Stunning art gallery with spacious layout, unfortunately had to lose some stars due to predominantly heavy manually operated doors throughout
Transport & Parking
Due to city centre location limited disabled on-street parking very close by, with nearby off-street car parking facilities within several minutes walk. Again due to location bus and train links within close proximity.
Access
Slopped ramp to left of the entrance with automatic sliding double doors on entry. Manual push/pull doors internally to the majority of galleries and cafe/ gift shop, with limited automated or open access. Spacious layout throughout, with some benches and seats sporadically placed. Lift accessible from ground floor main foyer to first floor, where two of the twelve galleries are located. Lift was long and narrow, with a small grab rail on entry.
Toilets
Two disabled toilets both situated on the ground floor, one located via the Studio Foyer which isn't clearly signposted, the other through the cafe which was obvious once in the seated cafe area. Both equipped with sufficient room, grab rails, emergency red cord, lowered sink with easy reach long handled tap.
Staff
Plenty of staff on hand to provide information regarding the artwork, and the facilities. Of the two members of staff we spoke to, both were cheerful and happy to assist, however were uncertain regarding whether the audio guide facility was available and if so whether it was up-to-date since the galleries most recent refurbishment.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Would recommend updating audio guide to assist visitors
