Overview
I was so impressed by the efficiency of the staff at Kyle Falconers (The View) gig in May. The doorway is accessible, as soon as we arrived another security member came and quickly got us passed and signed in, at the ticket kiosk there was a door to the left which we went through and that took us to the lift. The security staff accompanied us into Venga and to the barrier at the side of the stage. Here there was security in front of us which helped me feel safe as the crowd was pretty mental! I was actually impressed with the accessibility, we didn’t really encounter any issues.
Transport & Parking
We parked in ward road just two mins away, there are car parks near by and its in the town centre near to bus stops and the train station
Access
Wide doorway to enter, the lift was big enough for me and about 3 other people (I was in my manual chair). The security had me next to them at the front so I had a great view and when the crowd surged forward the security were on it immediately. I wouldn’t have been able to order a drink on my own as the bar was, well, bar height! There were raised platforms in the room but plenty of space so this didn’t make anything difficult.
Toilets
The toilet was clean and tidy, large enough for a carer and to get turned in a powerchair. There were grab rails and a red cord which was hanging to the floor. The toilet was down in the lift so when I needed to go I told the security next to me who called for another staff member, they then escorted us through the crowd clearing space and one then came in the lift and waited to bring us back, they recalled the other security and both made way for us to get safely back to our spot.
Staff
Sean and the security team were amazing, I honestly can’t praise them enough. They were calm, reassuring, friendly, efficient and really helpful. Without their help and presence I would have been quite nervous about the crowd, getting a good place to see from, and being able to get in and out through everyone.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Everything went really well and we had a great night! Be aware if you’re claustrophobic then this might not be the place for you as I was still surrounded by people and I wasn’t near the exit. For this reason it also wouldn’t be suitable for service dogs as the dog wouldn’t be safe on the floor.
