Overview
Good train station for trains to Edinburgh, Glasgow or Stirling. Not as frequent as Falkirk High Station however. Generally good disabled access, long detour to get from one platform to the other though if unable to cross the railway bridge.
Transport & Parking
Massive car park right beside the train platform for trains heading in the Edinburgh direction (platform 1). There is another, smaller car park beside the second platform (next to the post office), but it is on a fairly steep slope. There are buses on the main road beside the station with a long ramp leading down to platform 1. The car park isn't free.
Access
Access is good at platform 1. There is an accessible toilet in the main ticket office, dropped counters and an induction loop for when purchasing tickets. The waiting room is spacious with very little furniture and automatic doors to the car park and platform. There are ramps for boarding the trains. The downside to this station is the detour needed for step-free access to the second platform. Customers would have to take the ramp up onto the main street, cross the railway bridge via the road, follow the wheelchair accessible signs round the corner, past the post office and then down to the platform. It's not ideal, especially if you're running late for a train! It is reasonably well sign-posted however.
Toilets
I didn't use the toilets so can't comment, but I did see an accessible toilet in the ticket office.
Staff
Staff always appear friendly at this station and seem more than willing to help. They are mostly in the ticket office however, I have rarely seen staff out on the platform.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
This is a good station, but I would recommend Falkirk High if you have a car and want a quicker train journey to Glasgow or Edinburgh.
