Overview

My other half is obsessed with poppies and the moment and I think this is the reason we went to Pitlochry - to buy some blue poppies! This garden is really cool, it called the explorers garden, and focuses on mostly Scottish plant hunters who travelled around the world to collect plants in the late 1800's and the early 1900's. The gardens are divided into areas from all over the globe and planted with plants from the area and sometimes a information board about a plant hunter who went to that area.

Transport & Parking

We walked from Pitlochry centre, about 15minutes if you go via the green bridge. Parking is available at the bottom, the Pitlochry Festival Theatre car park, there is a winding ramp up to the garden, though it's step in areas.

Access

3

Half of the garden is pretty much accessible, with wide paths and with good information signs. However the bottom half is not advised the wheelchairs, this is indicated in signs and this is best as theres steep ramps and then loads of steps. Pity that wheelchairs have to turn back and reset everything again!

Toilets

It has a self composing toilet which is fully accessible.
