Overview
Exeter Central is the closest stop to the city centre and the cathedral. I made 3 journeys through this station. None of them involved special assistance. The station is step free due to lifts.
Transport & Parking
There are several buses that stop close by including some that stop immediately outside the station.
Access
The station entrance has automatic doors and a step free entrance. Off the ticket hall is a corridor and stairs with handrails both side or a lift to the platforms. On the platform there was plenty of seating.
Toilets
There were accessible toilets on the platform but I did not use them.
Staff
N/A as there was no real interaction with staff. On exiting the station in the morning, in the middle of rush hour, the station was extremely busy. I was with my friend and found it difficult to manage the queue through the ticket barriers. On our visit the station staff were checking everyone's ticket on exiting. Staff were fine, but there was no way someone with access needs regarding standing in the queue could get assistance when we were stuck in the middle of it.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
For my first journey I was travelling on my own to Exeter St Davids and it was about 10.30pm. The ticket office was closed and the station felt quite empty, but safe. However, when I got to platform level there was a member of staff available, not that I needed them but it was nice to know staff were about. Sorry for the lack of photos, I find it difficult remembering to take photos when I am travelling.
