Overview
This is an Elegant, neo-gothic mansion, set in 40 acres of parkland, just 6 miles away from Stratford apon Avon, with 48 bedrooms, including accessible rooms, if you request such when booking. You arrive by enjoying a lovely ride along the long driveway, (photo 1) with open grassland views and a variety of old trees in well kept conditions, a truly delightful way to arrive at this beautiful hotel. (Photo 2) A ramp is available to help you get up the high entrance steps, (photo 3) and help is close at hand, to take you up into the foyer and main entrance, (4) to the Reception desk (5) and then the most of the facilities and rooms are easily accessed. You are led into a nice relaxing small bar area, with comfortable seating, then directly taken into the magnificent Great Drawing room (6) for afternoon tea, (7) a must, and a most wonderful experience. A lift (11) is available, a bit small, but you will manage if you reverse out again, to get you upstairs to bedroom (12) and it’s wide enough to comfortably push you along to room. Down a couple of small steps will get you and carer down onto courtyard, and a shor pull will allow you to reach swimming pool, and this is the only way to reach pool, but then you have to ring and wait for staff member to come and let you in, so please chose a dry day. The grand dining room offers diner, (16) and other function rooms (17) are available for your personal celebrations. If you can manage a few steps, then please explore the other rooms, and at this point of time I suggest you see all our photos to see how you may enjoy the hotel, as there are steps as you explore the hotel. On a warm beautiful day it would be very pleasant to sit out on the terrace area, but you would have to be taken down the main entrance ramp that would be provided for you, and taken around the exterior of hotel grounds to reach the terrace, a bit of a pain, but the outstanding view over the parkland would be worth the effort (18) There are no paths however, you will have to be pushed over grassland to see the park itself. Our final thoughts for you. This is a beautiful mansion, carefully renovated, and well worth you coming to visit, even if it’s just for a coffee break, or Afternoon Tea, and you will manage with the help of a carer to see most of the hotel. An Overnight stay would be a very delightful experience, so although there are problems to face, we believe you may cope, and staff will do all they can to help you. When booking a room, do please discuss it with the hotel first, so they can help you choose the best room for your circumstances , and remember, it is only a few miles away from Stratford apon Avon, well worth seeing, and then there,s Warwick castle, Kenilworth castle, and just half an hour or so and you can explore the Cotswolds, so dispute problems, we think we can recommend this hotel to you.
Transport & Parking
After arriving via a beautiful drive through parkland, (photo 1) you are able to park quite close to the Neo-Gothic Mansion of Ettington Park Hotels entrance (photo 2).
Access
There are four high steps to climb at the entrance for Hotel, but a ramp is provided for your use, (photo 3) and erected for you by very pleasant willing reception staff. Once seated in the Great Drawing Room (photo 6) which is on the level, you may enjoy parkland views. Close at hand you will find the disabled toilet (8) which is quite a good size, clean, and providing hand rails and pull cord (9). You may have to reverse to exit toilet though. If you wish to enjoy other rooms as you investigate this beautiful mansion, then sadly there are a number of steps you need to face, but most of the rooms may be seen without worrying to much. The gardens and grounds are difficult as the need to climb steps or be dragged across grassland, even to reach the pleasant terrace area, but if your carer can manage all this, it’s a treat to see the grounds.
Toilets
It is on the level, next to steps, and of a reasonable size, clean, with grab rails and pull cord, but you may have to reverse when exiting. (Photo 9)
