Overview
The Emmerdale Village Tour is the outdoor purpose built village where the outside scenes are filmed for Emmerdale. An excellent 90 minute tour especially if you an Emmerdale fan.Carers are free of charge,it is all mainly accessible with a few slopes and uneven surfaces but overall it is ok,i have a powerchair and managed ok as did others who were in manual wheelchairs. This is an outdoor attraction so you do really need good weather as there is no shelter if it rains,or a good brolly !!
Transport & Parking
If you are fully disabled like myself then you are allowed to park at the venue,if you can use coaches then you will be brought in by coach which brings you in from a pub car park about 30 minutes away ( i cannot comment on this as i parked at the venue)The car park at the venue is spacious but gravel so is bit hard to manage but i did it ok.It is really in the middle of the Harewood House Estate miles from anywhere so you either drive there or use the coach provided which is included in the ticket price, public transport is not really an option.
Access
The access is mainly good, when you set off on the tour you have to go down an uneven track which is not far and then you are on mostly an even tarmac road for the rest of the tour. There is a church in the village set which has a step up into it so if you cannot do steps then this is the only part you cannot access. No where really to rest as you are shown around by a tour guide who is on a time limit as there are others tours following you,but there are seats when you get back to the starting point of the tour which lasts about 90 minutes.
Toilets
There was a disabled Portaloo there but i never used it,i had a look inside and it didn't look that good to be honest,no grab rails or raised seat so i would have struggled but others may have managed. Not very big and enough room for my carer and i.
Staff
Great staff and very helpful and informative.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
A good few hours out and about in lovely countryside , but as i said previously good weather is a must really as it is all outdoors, there is only a small mobile catering van for drinks and snacks but you are told this on the website so if you are expecting food then you will be disappointed also because this is a working film set during the week the tours only take place at weekends.
