Overview

Walked from the station, through two parks and entered at the side. Step free route with door lips into the Cathedral. Larger doors nearer the high street. Flat tiled floor inside on ground level. Ramps I could manage without assistance. Chairs are loosely arranged and can be moved. The roof is a key feature to observe. Worth the entrance fee. Stairs only access to tower or stained glass museum.

Transport & Parking

Arrived at Ely station, walked past the river, through two parks. Step free, took about 40 minutes at a leisurely pace.

Access

Side door park side entrance had a narrow door with significant lip to bump over. Low payment desk but some leaflets and 'internet available sign' only on the high desk not visible from seated. Larger doors with small lip at the front. Once inside all flat, tiled smooth floor in most places with two good ramps. No access to upper floors as understandable. Good lighting. Removable seating (all single chairs). Step free walk around the outside.

Toilets

Modern, clean but right hand support rail further away than normal from the toilet and not a lot of transfer space.

Staff

Pay for a private tour or we were told to just tag along to general tours if we wanted. Staff were friendly.

Carers get free entry. On our visit the Internet (offered so guests can download the free tour app) wasn't the correct passcode so can't comment on that aspect. Nearest toilet we could use with space and rails was in Wildwood restaurant a minute from the cathedral in the high street.
