A homely cafe

Overview
I use a mobility scooter and can walk short distances. This was my first visit to Elmer's. There is a very low step (about 2in) from the pavement but from there everything is level inside the cafe. It was bright and cheerful and there was room to park my scooter by a table without getting in anyone's way. I asked if the garden was fully accessible and was told it was but there is a narrow doorway with a saddle. There is a narrow strip of concrete adjacent to the building but the decking is reached by a gravel path which may not be suitable for wheelchair users.
Transport & Parking
No car park.
Access
All right for those who can walk a little but not for those who are confined to a wheelchair.
Toilets
The manager/owner offered to help me if I needed assistance to get to the toilet. I told him I write reviews for Euan's Guide and asked if the toilet was fully accessible for anyone who was confined to a wheelchair. He said that there were support rails inside. I wasn't able to see for my self as it was occupied but the door was only as wide as that of a normal, internal door so I doubt whether anyone who needed to place their wheelchair alongside the toilet in order to move from the chair to the toilet seat would be able to do so.
Staff
Staff were friendly and welcoming. There was a lovely atmosphere and a lot of the customers seemed to be regulars, mainly workmen enjoying the good, plain food and bright, clean surroundings and many elderly people.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The menu isn't extensive - mainly comfort food - but the vegetarian breakfast I had was excellent and remarkably inexpensive at £4 which included a mug of freshly made tea. The garden is lovely and probably full in warm weather.
