Overview

Elliot's Bar & Restaurant is inside Apex Waterloo Place Hotel and is a great place to visit for afternoon tea. Access is through the hotel's main entrance and is good considering the layout of the hotel.

Transport & Parking

The restaurant is close to the city centre and is near major bus routes. It is also within short walking distance of Waverley Train Station, and there is some on street parking right outside the venue.

Access

Access into the main reception of the hotel is level, although the doors are not automatic. They are glass however, so a member of staff will be able to see you approaching if you need assistance. Once inside, there are a set of steps leading up to the direction of the restaurant, but a lift has been installed immediately beside the steps for wheelchair users. As you turn into the restaurant, be aware that the entrance corridor is very dark with shiny surfaces. You will be greeted by a host here however who will seat you. I recommend booking in advance as most of the tables and chairs were down another set of steps and I did not automatically see any ramps or lifts down them. There were a few tables with moveable chairs on the entrance level however. The restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere and is bright with relaxed decor. Floors are smooth throughout.

Toilets

There is a clearly signposted accessible loo right beside the restaurant. It is again quite dimly lit however with bright red walls, but it is clean and spacious with an emergency cord. It might be difficult for some to see the emergency cord however as it doesn't contrast with the red walls and may appear to blend in.

Staff

Staff were lovely and accommodating throughout our visit. They explained the afternoon tea menu clearly and were very polite.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Perhaps book in advance if you need level access to your seat. It's well worth it as this was one of the best afternoon teas I've had in Edinburgh! Complete with a giant homemade marshmallow!
