Overview

I am an MSer who uses a scooter indoors and out. Hamiltons is a Well designed farm steading conversion, making a very accessible one bedroom, dog welcome, holiday cottage where I spent 4 nights with my husband. Owner Rob helpfully offered a shower chair for the wet room. Disabled toilet, grab bar in shower. Kitchen area is low level. There are other disabled accessible properties within the Eildon Holiday Cottages complex- see their website. Equipment can be added for your needs, some may be to hire. I have stayed in Lanrigg previously, a larger cottage, very accessible. Comfortable and warm at Hamiltons in November. Lovely setting above the golf course in attractive Melrose. Bird feeders out side windows attracted a woodpecker!

Transport & Parking

Car parking space right outside the door.

Access

Level entry front door, excellent for my scooter. I could use my scooter outside on the paving slabs and enjoy the view. Cottage on one level, living room with kitchen and dining, bedroom and adapted bathroom.

Toilets

Toilet with trombone arm, grab bars, wet room shower, shower chair, plenty of room.

Staff

Very helpful, Rob phoned my home to ask if I needed a shower chair in the bathroom before our arrival. Very approachable, I really appreciated the welcome to our family dog. Made sure we were warm in November.

Having stayed with Eildon Cottage Holidays twice, I will be back. My son's house is in Galashiels but not accessible to me, so Melrose is now our visiting base. Good website to browse the holiday cottages.
