Overview

This was our first journey on this train. Before hand our booking was all managed by one Company who I shall review separately. The reservation and location was in first class with more spacious seating and comfortable seating. The journey was quieter and smoother than previous diesel land electric Units, the train departed and arrived on time.

Transport & Parking

Bus services to Waverley are only available at the Princes Street Entrance / Exit, services include Lothian, East Coast, First Bus the nearest tram stop is in St. Andrew’s Square 500m, there are escalator and lift provision and Taxis drop off and pick up at the all entrance and exits points. There is car parking for blue badge holders in Lower Carlton Road and Market Street which has a car park. We chose a different arrival entrance rather than Market Street, and used Lower London Road. It was less of a walk and 4 lifts less to the First Class Lounge and the platform soon after.

Access

Plenty Lifts to platforms where needed with excellent signage for directions to the other Station facilities. Plenty seating n the main concourse and ticket office, they could have done with more on the longer platforms.

Toilets

Disabled toilets, 3 in total were located off the main ticket office, the First Class Lounge has its own. They can be accessed by attendant or by RADAR key with adequate space and size for various chairs and types and a carer. Not being used by all meant it was cleaner and tidier. No changing toilet facility, the nearest being in the Booking Office, a Wetherspoons on Waverley Bridge.

Staff

First Class Lounge reception excellent. Assistance to the train and on board staff excellent. Meeting at Kings x with assistance excellent. This was the same with our return journey.

Train and non train Staff were wearing masks. There are 3 different menu types on services depending the chosen journey. Drinks, beverages and snacks are provided regularly.
