Overview
A sunny August afternoon and time for the start of the new season. Easter Road was the destination to watch the match.
Transport & Parking
I arrived under my own steam, or should I say power, using my powerchair. There is Blue Badge parking in St. Clair Street and a separate area for HDSA members as well as away fans. You can get more information on the HDSA website at www.hdsa.org.uk
Access
I arrived at the stadium and followed the crowds around to the West Stand. Getting in was straightforward as there's a dedicated wheelchair entrance so you don't have to do battle with the turnstiles. The West Stand has a large lift, room for a powerchair and manual chair at the same time, that takes you to level one. Once here there are a couple of double doors out on to the wheelchair viewing area. Each wheelchair space is accompanied by a seat for your companion. The views are good and it feels comfortable as you don't have people behind you. It's also relatively sheltered.
Toilets
Immediately off the wheelchair viewing area is a doorway leading to a lobby and off that a good size accessible toilet. It was large enough to be able to turn my powerchair full circle.
Staff
Didn't see many staff but those I did were helpful. The stadium has several wheelchair viewing areas and each is slightly different. The HDSA website tells you more information.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Great atmosphere and certainly somewhere that could be described as family friendly.
