Overview
A traditional seaside pier with shops, cafes and amusements. there are nice views of Eastbourne sea front. Fun place to spend time.
Transport & Parking
The Pier is about half a mile from Eastbourne railway station. There are local buses that stop outside.
Access
From the promenade there is step free access. There is a wide open entrance. The pier has wooden planks. Apart from one part where there is a slope/ ramp, see photo, the rest of the pier is level. There are various stalls/ shops selling food and gifts with manual doors. There is plenty of seating.
Toilets
I didn't see any signs for toilets on the pier, but there may have been some in the amusement areas or in the cafes/ pub, which I didn't go into. I did find an accessible toilet plus non accessible toilets near the entrance to the pier. This involved turning right on exiting the pier, following the slope until it met the path that goes under the pier. Then going towards this path to the pier the accessible toilet is on the right hand side before their pier, see photos. The accessible toilet is not easy to find when you are walking towards the pier as the yellow sign, see photo, is on the back of the cubicle. There was also another sign saying radar key could be obtained from the attendant in the ladies. However when I went into the ladies, there were pay gates and I didn't see an attendant and when I called out I got no reply. The toilet was spacious and had grab rails. Sorry I don't seem to have a photo of this toilet and I can't honestly remember if there was a red emergency cord.
Staff
I had no interaction with staff.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Beware of the seagulls I sat on the pier and I ended up with seagull pooh on my cardi. The pier is well maintained and is popular and busy. It has traditional family fun and is a nice place to spend time.
