Overview
East runton is a gorgeous beach, often overlooked by the masses who head for Cromer & Sheringham instead. The beach has lovely golden sand, a few rocks for exploring & the rest is usually a glorious golden sand. The only downside is access, this can be tricky as its via a long & fairly steep road going straight down to the beach. If in a wheelchair & you manage it at the bottom is a raised concrete platform with railings suitable for enjoying the view. If going onto the beach there is a cold shower on your right as you reach the bottom, mind the boats though & at high tide these maybe taken out. The tide goes out quite a way & comes in pretty fast as the beach is very shallow so even at high tide you can go a long way out & still be at a safe depth. The beach is extremely safe & during season has lifeguards as well as sea watch volunteers. The car park as of 2022 is £7 for 24 hours (you can buy less too) or buy short season tickets for all NNDC car parks from council offices in Cromer this is a bargain. On the main road a short walk from the car park is a Spar, Chip shop (Will's Plaice) & pub. If you don't fancy the slope the car park is grass so if you park near the steps you can get a lovely view, there's also a nice viewing & seating area between the car park & caravan park opposite too. There's also usually an ice van in the car park & there's accessible toilets too again radar key required. All NNDC car parks require payment from Blue badge holders
