Mostly Accessible Toilets
Visit date:
Overview
This review relates solely to the accessible toilets and not the Cycle Hub or the cafe.
Transport & Parking
350 metres from Dundee Railway station and 160 metres from the V&A, the hub is a short walk or wheel away from central Dundee. With views of the Tay, a cafe and a play park, it's not a bad place to spend a sunny day or a short lunch break.
Access
Toilets
The area around the toilet is level, just the way we like it. I didn't see Braille or alternative signage in or around the toilet. The toilet is small and basic. There is room for a right-side transfer, but a sanitary bin has been put in this space. The toilet seat is standard height, features a backrest and has a grabrail on either side. The sink, on the right when seated, is small and standard height and features a pump-activated bottle of soap and a sensor tap. It also has a grabrail on either side. A full-length mirror can be found to the left of the sink. There is a red emergency cord, to the left on entering, or the right when on the toilet seat, which touches the floor and is not obstructed. The toilet door opens outward, putting it at risk of being caught by the wind. There's a Dyson hand dryer, but this is installed directly above another bin, which may make it difficult to reach for some wheelchair users. The lower score is for the layout and the placement of the bins below the hand dryer and in the transfer space.
Staff
I didn't speak to the staff.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Whilst there are certainly improvements to be made, I'm glad the toilet is here all the same. A few minor adjustments would make the facilities that much better.
