Overview

Dulwich Park is an attractive venue. One or two tiny hiccups prevent it from getting a five-star review. This should not deter you.

Transport & Parking

The nearest train stations are Sydenham Hill (1.2 miles away, NO step-free access), North Dulwich (0.5 miles away, NO step-free access) and Herne Hill (1 mile away, fully step-free). Bus routes P4, P13, 176, 185, 197 will drop you off somewhere near the park, not always close enough for convenience. The park has numerous wheelchair-badged parking spaces near the entrance gates. But - very thoughtlessly - the wide gates permitting vehicular access into the park are kept locked. So the parking spaces are academic and tokenistic.

Access

There is little vehicular traffic in the park (though lots of people on bikes and children on scooters) so it's fairly safe to walk in any of the roads inside the park. Pavements are wide, but beware of tall kerbs. Kerb drops exist at certain points allowing a wheelchair user to move conveniently between kerb and road. It's not always easy to navigate the considerable bump between the road and the sandy path. Signage is good and includes signs to toilets. There is a café but I didn't go near it because I visited during the Covid-19 pandemic and I was steering well clear of people and enclosed spaces. If - post-pandemic - I do visit the café, I will update this section. I gather it's charming, but I don't know how accessible it is.

Toilets
