Overview
This is a review of the main restaurant inside, although there is also ample outdoor space. A smaller licensed cafe, Bobby's, also operates on this site. It is on the same level as the entrance and the toilets.
Transport & Parking
There are four blue badge spaces. These cannot be accessed from the main car park, so if coming from the South you should drive past the entrance to the main car park to the next opening on the right. There are a few steps up from the main car park, although a wheelchair user could take the slightly longer way round from it by going back out on to the pavement. There is more parking across the road which is also available to the general public, so can get very busy.
Access
There is level access from the blue badge spaces. Once inside, the smaller Bobby's Cafe is straight ahead, but to access the large main restaurant there is a wheelchair lift operated by staff. This had a right angled turn to get out of the top, which isn't so much of a problem going up but is very tight to turn into going down. There are four steps up, with a hand rail if you don't use the lift. For those with larger devices such as a mobility scooter, I believe you could arrange with staff to enter via a long ramp from the outside seating area which faces Loch Lomond. During Covid restrictions this was being used as the exit. However if you wish to use the toilet after a meal this means using the lift again. The interior of the restaurant is spacious and there was room to manoeuvre a wheelchair to a window seat, even when the other tables were occupied.
Toilets
The toilet is on the same level as the entrance. The door is in a small rectangular area which also has the entrances to the ladies and gents. The toilet has grab rails on both sides and the red cord goes to the floor, though it was a bit tucked away. The room is rather tight for a wheelchair user and assistant - in fact as I moved between the back of the chair and the front to assist my relative it was impossible to avoid setting off the hand drier all the time.
Staff
All very helpful and pleasant.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
There was plenty of sanitiser, tables were well spaced and there was a one way system. The restaurant has an extensive menu and the food is very tasty. It gets very busy at lunch time so we always book. The views are spectacular.
