Overview
I was looking forward to swimming here after their much trumpeted million pound refit but I must confess, I was disappointed. Yes - the layout has changed but I do feel an opportunity has been missed! Reception and the cafe area are smart and user friendly but the changing area was a bit of let down. (Can't speak for the gym as we had no experience of this.)
Transport & Parking
Same as my previous report on this venue.
Access
All level access throughout plus automatic front doors BUT heavy doors to negotiate into the changing area and difficult space to get a wheelchair through. Long walk to poolside and what really rankles is the space reduction (particularly for disabled swimmers). The disabled changing room has been halved - yes, there is still a loo yes - there are still grabrails but no 'plinth' and space is at a premium. Having said that, once poolside there are no problems and I like their new shower set up.
Toilets
These are dotted about and are good.
Staff
Same as before.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
As I say, I was disappointed at the refurbished Drumbrae (others in the group feel the same) It seems to me that a golden oportunity has been missed to make Drumbrae excellent. For example: the internal doors, the disabled changing room. It begs the question "was there any consultation with disabled people?"
