Overview
We needed to rethink aspects of our kitchen to make it safer and more user-friendly for wheelchair girl, but we didn't want a completely new kitchen. Ross and his assistant Michelle at Dream Doors could not have been more helpful. They do home visits and their showroom is wheelchair accessible.
Transport & Parking
Can't comment on the parking. The tram got us to York Place. The showroom is next to the Mansfield-Traquair Kirk. Lothian buses 8 and 13 serve nearby stops (Mansfield Place) in Broughton Street.,
Access
The showroom is on the ground floor. The entrance is a double door, which staff were on-hand to open, and is level. The circulating spaces in the showroom are good and we had no difficulty in getting to and assessing the appliances we had come to see.

Staff
Owner Ross and his assistant Michelle were very helpful. Coffee and tea are offered to visitors, and the explanations of what is available are clear and well-informed.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The changes we set out to make were (1) replacing a gas hob where the pans were balanced not very securely on metal frames with a flat induction hob (2) replacing an electric oven with a drop-down door which was very difficult for wheelchair girl to use because the drop-down door meant that she couldn't get near to the oven in her wheelchair. It seems that these days no-one makes ovens with doors that open sideways. At the showroom we were able to try out a Neff "hide-and-slide" oven and hob and the trying-out included checking that the touch controls on both appliances offered good visibility to a person in a wheelchair and also respond to a light touch. Dream Doors did a very efficient job of removing the old equipment, making safe and certifying the disconnected gas supply, installing the new equipment and taking away all the packaging.
