Overview

It was nice to get allocated the accessible room that we had on our last stay two years ago. Then we suggested that a shelf beside the shower but this was still missing. The showerhead was one of these large overhead types, giving the user a good shower. The drop down seat was large and well positioned. Other than the pillows being too high, we found the room super, although I did wonder how someone transferring from a wheelchair into bed would manage due to the Height of the bed. A nice touch was that the wardrobe had a pull down/out rail making it easier for a wheelchair user

Transport & Parking

Disabled parking is at the back of the hotel. Oddly there are only three disabled bays and the hotel has five accessible rooms. On occasion, my wife had to abandon me at the door and park were she could.

Access

To access the hotel there was a side door beside the revolving door. Although this was not automatic, there was an intercom for assistance. Once in you had to go along a long carpeted corridor, do a sharp right at the end into a small lift which took you onto the reception level. I am glad I used the wheelchair and not my buggy as the exit was at 90 degrees from the entry. I was a bit surprised that reception did not have a lowered part of the desk to make signing in easier. The lift up to the bedroom was compact but did the job and we found other hotel gusts very obliging in giving priority to wheelchair users.

Toilets

I did think that the toilet was positioned a bit close to the sink which I feel would be awkward for anyone transferring from a wheelchair

Staff

In the restaurant, staff were helpful on moving a seat in the times I did not feel up to transferring from the wheelchair. We used the pool twice and found the staff to be very friendly and most helpful. I had checked previously and the do have a hoist to get into the pool, as well as a disabled changing room with it’s own loo and shower. All the staff we met were very helpful. There is also steps with handrails to access the pool. The Steam room and sauna had a fairly high threshold to get over. The Internet speed was fine and reliable and we understood having to log on after 24 hours. Reception staff were always attentive and friendly.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Breakfast was excellent, although we were puzzled one morning when we were banished to the conservatory when there were plenty of other tables set. Not good whilst using a wheelchair. Evening meals were lovely, if not a bit wasted in myself. We found the 30-minute wait between ordering and being served desserts a bit much.
