Overview

The Flying Scotsman health centre is a purpose built health building that houses an 8 - 8 Health Clinic and Dental access team as well as other clinics on other floors, such as the Child and Adolescent Mental health Learning Disability clinic and counselling services. This building has been built with accessibility for all in mind, it has good, level access into the building and a lift to transoirt to the various floors. There is a number of disabled toilets available on all floors as well as an impressive changing/ toilet area with ceiling hoist and shower on the ground floor. There is good disabled parking with a direct route into the building form this car park

Transport & Parking

There is a specific undercover disabled parking area which gives easy access to disabled users through an automatic door.

Access

Both entrances from the disabled parking area and the front entrance are wide automatic doors. There are no ramps or stairs. Unfortunately there are 3 floors and disabled users will have to use the lift to access the different floors. Unfortunatley there is only 1 lift so there would be difficulties should this lift break down.

Toilets

There are a number of toilets on all 3 floors in this building, both disabled accessible and ordinary toilets. On the ground floor there is an excellent changing toilet area with fully function ceiling hoist and shower facilities

Staff

The concierge are helpful in ensuring that patients are directed to appropriate places. The large majority greet you with a smile

Anything else you wish to tell us?

This is a building that has been built wth accessibility in mind. Although it is not ideal with being on 3 floors i feel they have considered and ensured that there is appropriate facilities on each floors. The dental practice runs special clinics for children with disabilities and challenging behaviour who are unable to access the local dentists.
