Overview
Dobbies is not just a garden centre, it also has a gift shop and restaurant as well as a food hall selling local produce. Breakfasts seem to be a hit or somewhere to pop in for a coffee after a browse. There is much to see in this shop with a vast range of stock and it is an enjoyable experience with its spacious store. Something for everyone, worth a visit!
Transport & Parking
The venue is on the outside of Newcastle located in Ponteland. The best means of transport to visit Dobbies is by car. They have a large level car park on the premises. There is not a bus stop within 150m of the venue. The nearest public transport would be taking the metro to Newcastle airport. Access by wheelchair however by path to this venue from the airport could be precarious, as at one part you will need to pass a busy road with no traffic lights.
Access
There is level access into the centre. The centre is all on one level. The main doors open automatically. Motorised scooters are allowed into the centre. Lighting levels are very bright. Throughout the centre they have wide pathways to freely manoeuvre around the shop, restaurant and garden centre.
Toilets
There is a disabled toilet clearly signed at the front of the shop. The toilet has numerous grab rails and room to manoeuvre. The toilets were clean and tidy on my visit.
Staff
I found the Staff were very helpful and friendly. They centre has a lot of staff at hand to help.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
There is not a hearing assistance system. The venue does play background music. The restaurant has tables and chairs that are not permanently fixed. No chairs had arm rests. Menus were clearly written.
