Overview
The floor plan of the museum is considerate of disabled access, the entrance to the museum is one level and has bilateral rails on the ramp up to the first floor. There is a lift large enough for one wheelchair and a carer to fit in comfortably, which allows access to all 5 floors of the museum.
Transport & Parking
There is disabled parking bays directly outside of the museum entrance, however these are public parking spaces also used by members of the public who do not use the museum, this increases the risk there not being a disabled bay available on arrival.
Access
The museum has a well planed layout which allows for a smooth access to all areas of the museum by a disabled person, door ways are large enough for wheel chair access and the floor colours make it easy to acknowledge a step up or down.
Toilets
There are disabled toilets available on most of the floors which have suitable hand rails fitted to allow safe transfers by disabled people
Staff
Staff are very accommodating of a disabled person and were more than willing to provide support and advice when requested
