A challenging walk around Derwent Water

Overview
Spectacular views and changing river beds. Some easy ground up to Friars Crag and plenty of difficulty if the walk is extended around the lake. Well worth the effort s this walk mixes everything - mountains, water, prehistoric sensory input amid the old damp trees, sheep grazing, panoramic views over the lake - so much to enjoy and absorb.
Transport & Parking
Dedicated parking but easily walkable if staying in Keswick.
Access
Some easy paths but also some very difficult paths. The rivers have changed their course and the paths are covered in pebbles and boulders. The bridges have all been washed away and are no longer needed ,which is a plus because they often caused difficulty. Some paths on the waters edge are soft and undulating so individual judgement is required. If you enjoy a challenge then this is the walk for you.
Toilets
Theatre on the Lake and adjoining restaurant have disabled toilets but I have found them to be rather small, particularly in the Theatre. Signs are also small.
Staff
They are all proud of what they do, and some volunteers can be a little overwhelming but this is to be treasured rather than complained about.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Derwent Water is my all time favourite place and patience is needed because nature rules here. Despite all the wardens go out of their way to ensure you have the best possible time - at all times of the year.
