Overview
Denbies Wine Estate offers indoor and outdoor (not sure how accessible these are) wine tours, has a farm shop, restaurant, well stocked gift shop selling a lot more than wine and a very large conservatory cafe. There are 8 disabled parking bays by the entrance to the restaurants and shop, level entry access and one disabled toilet on the ground floor. Another good place to visit in Surrey on a cold or wet day and even better when the sun comes out.
Transport & Parking
There is space for 8 blue badge holders. The blue badge disabled parking spaces are in 2 sets of 4 but are unmarked and therefore you have to hope the other cars are parked sensibly. If you are in a wheelchair you need to ensure you have access to the short sections of dropped curb within each of the 4 bay areas. This is the reason for only 3.5 stars as it would be so easy to have dropped curbs across all 8 spaces.
Access
The main building is accessed by heavy glass doors but there is normally a friendly member of the public around to hold open the door. There is level and open entry to the self service cafe and shop although the tiled surface in the cafe is uneven and can be awkward to wheel over. The conservatory cafe seating area is large with plenty of space to wheel around in a light and warm environment. The upstairs restaurant is accessible via a lift.
Toilets
The ground floor accessible toilet has a light door. It is spacious and has a mirror, sink and hand dryer at be correct height. The only negative is the height of the flush handle which is impossible to reach from a wheelchair.
Staff
Friendly staff and I am sure they would carry a tray if required.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Denbies is a good location to visit in a wheelchair on a wet day. The cafe and and shop are always warm (which I really appreciate) and you can usually find a disabled parking space.
