Overview
The main problem with this modern hotel complex is the car park. All spaces including disabled are at least 100 meters or maybe even more. The hotel design allows drop off point only by the doors but if you are a lone disabled traveller that is not much help especially if you have luggage and its pouring with rain. Also there idea of an accessible room is one with a bath which "has very short sides" although they do have step-free rooms.
Transport & Parking
plenty of disabled spaces although all seem constantly full. 100 meters or possibly more from the front door. Not sure about public transport to the hotel.
Access
Once inside the hotel the access is good. Plenty of toilets in reception and disabled toilet was clean and fairly average. The floors are tiled throughout the hotel so easy to use a wheelchair. Plenty of seats in the reception. Doors to the residential areas are double and a little difficult to open on your own.
Toilets
As i was staying in the hotel I mainly used the toilet in the room. After a lot of hassle i did get a good room with a large wet room and the toilet access was good with a drop down rail etc.
Staff
Reception staff are helpful but have little understanding of disabled peoples needs its seems. I had a long conversation prior to booking the hotel about my access needs so was dismayed to find i was booked into a room with a bath. Luckily they were able to change it but this should not have been necessary. The staff in the restaurant were few and very grumpy and the food awful.. Staff in the spa were lovely but the pool area was a nightmare as crowded and very very slippery.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
This is a modern hotel so should be great for everyone whatever their needs. There is nothing on their website to warn people about the distance from the car park to the door and I have suggested they add this. When i arrived it was pouring so I decided not to get the chair out but to try and make it with a crutch. This was stupid as left me in a lot of pain. Although the step free room was good and beds comfy they were very near the bar so very noisy if it is crowded. The restaurant was very difficult to navigate due to the tightly packed tables and chairs. I would not go there again.
