Overview
Wow the Dawlish Sea Wall is much improved. It's a lovely walk. In the direction of Dawlish to Coryton Cove the Sea Wall is open but heading towards Dawlish Warren is still being completed. If you want to see what it was like before then look at my 2018 review.
Transport & Parking
Dawlish Railway Station runs parallel to the sea wall walk and next to the station there is a step free access to the sea wall. The station has step free access to platform 2, with trains heading towards Exeter/ London. Platform 1 with trains towards Paignton/ Torquay is accessible via a railway bridge with stairs only. However through Special Assistance they can arrange and accompany you to cross the railway line. There are also step free buses that stop close by.
Access
Next to Dawlish Station there is step free access to the sea wall under railway bridge. There is now a smooth path along the sea front. It's a massive improvement from previously. There are also some seating along the route, which was very much appreciated. It's much easier to walk along now.
Toilets
Didn't get as far as the accessible toilets this time on my walk.
Staff
Didn't see any staff
Anything else you wish to tell us?
It's outdoors and felt very safe. I love Dawlish and the new sea wall with seating makes it so much easier route. It's a beautiful coastal walk. Just be aware that on the town side there are railings and high speed trains regularly pass by, so just be aware if sudden loud noises are a concern for you. I'm in love with Dawlish and this new sea wall makes it even more lovable. I hope to be back soon.
